Casa da Arquitectura | Portuguese Centre of Architecture: Opening

Opening | November 17—19, 2017
Casa da Arquitectura, Matosinhos, Portugal

Casa da Arquitectura will inaugurate its new facilities in the Real Vinícola quarter, in Matosinhos, in an area of about 5 thousand square meters. It was recovered by the Municipality of Matosinhos, with a project of architect Guilherme Machado Vaz. It is located where the old winery factory was built between 1897 and 1901 by the company Menéres & Company.

Casa da Arquitectura is a non-profit cultural entity created in 2007 in Matosinhos. It has been growing in the universe of architectural content creation and programming. It is currently the only non-profit cultural entity, in Portugal, exclusively dedicated to architecture that congregates, in a single space, archive area and exhibition area.

The inauguration of the new premises will be a celebration for everyone and not just for architects. The Real Vinícola block will be open to the public from 9 pm on the 17th November and during the weekend of the 18-19 November. We want everyone to know what Casa da Arquitectura has to offer.

You MUST take the family. Guided visits to the Casa’s space are planned for these days and we prepared a wide-ranging program of activities for children and families. Among other things, it will be possible to visit the archive area, which will have, in the future, over 500 models, panels, sketches, serigraphs, DVDs, books and other, and occupies about 800 square meters. There will be two exhibitions to visit freely — including the inaugural exhibition Poder Arquitectura — performances happening on the block, film sessions, debates, talks, music and lots of animation. The program is vast and for all tastes.

Entrance is free for all activities on 17th to 19th of November.
