Casa da Arquitectura, Matosinhos, Portugal
After roaming venues in Brazil (Parque Ibirapuer, São Paulo), Italy (the Milan Triennale) and in Spain (Seville), the 10th Ibero-American Urban Planning and Architecture Biennale exhibition has finally arrived in Portugal, just in time for the opening of Casa de Arquitectura new premises.
Curated by the Spanish duo of architects Ângela García de Paredes and Ignacio G. Pedrosa, the 10th edition of the Ibero-American Urban Planning and Architecture Biennale was themed Desplazamientos, Deslocamentos, Displacements. From a total of 1111 received projects, 26 were granted awards as well as six books, two publications and a video collection.
The Ibero-American Award, which is given at each edition to a manner of working that has been built up over time, was awarded in this tenth BIAU to Eduardo Souto de Moura, whose work is highly creative and yet never loses contact with reality and never betrays the identity of the location. The architect will also be participating in one of the Talks taking place on Casa de Arquitectura opening weekend.
