The exhibition will be interposed by conversations and dialogues with professors and students, to be held in the main museum space.
Open from 1 to 28 March in the Exhibition Gallery of FAUP, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 7 pm. Free entrance.
About the exhibition:
a 2700km kilometres journey in twelve days through fifteen cities and a body of work.
We knew Vila Mairea, the Experimental house, Paimio’s sanatorium, his house and studio. We identified the harmony in the curves, the complexity in the plans. We moved through articles, monographs, but we lacked the experience of space predicted in the cross-sections, elevations, plans, images.
Through Aalto’s architecture, we propose fourteen perspectives that lived each space, each promenade, making it ours. Believing that architecture is made of immersions and memories, we share travel records of what we have seen, sketched, photographed and written, interposed by conversations and dialogues with professors and students, to be held in the main museum space.
Thus, the exhibition appears as an opportunity to regain Alvar Aalto’s legacy, emphasizing the pertinence of his timeless oeuvre, as a current object of discussion.
