Until May 4, all technology based business ideas that can improve the life of those who live, work or visit a city, may apply to the BIG Smart Cities contest, powered by Vodafone and Ericsson.
BIG Smart Cities is an international competition where start-ups get to pitch to investors and earn BIG prizes to launch and scale their businesses. The overall winner will be awarded a 10,000-euro prize, a six-month incubation period at Vodafone Power Lab and a trip to one of Ericsson’s innovation centers in Europe.
The competition’s organization dares you to “imagine a world where we can think of cities as connected smart systems where quality of life is great for its citizens and visitors” and asks for your help to build such cities. “We need your simple ideas and solutions to improve everyday city’s problems in 4 areas: Mobility, Tourism, Living and Government”, you can read at the BIG Smart Cities website.
The BIG Smart Cities 4th edition launch took place last April 14 at Porto with the first of four BIG City Challenges. These events across the country (Portugal) were designed to present insights within key opportunity areas, with workshops and mentoring for the participants, who get to pitch their projects at the end. The winning teams of the four events cash a 500-euro prize each and will automatically become BIG Smart Cities competition finalists. Lisbon will hold the last BIG City Challenge on the 28th of April at NOVA School of Business & Economics.
BIG Smart Cities competition ends with an event (BIG Final) open to public where the finalists present their pitches, which are followed by a Q&A session, BIG Expo and an award ceremony.
The winning team gets automatically included in the acceleration and incubation program supported by Vodafone Power Lab.
